Maurice Levitch
Design/Build Expertise
Maurice Levitch began working in construction at the age of 14, spending summers as a truck driver, laborer and carpenter. He received his general contractor's license before graduating from U.C. Berkeley's College of Environmental Design with a degree in architecture and later became licensed as an architect. Maurice is now President of Levitch Associates, Inc. in Berkeley, CA, a design/build firm founded by his father in 1960. He oversees design and construction for most of the firm's projects.
Inspired by his grandfather and an Eagle Scout project, Maurice has always recycled, most importantly with the buildings he remodels. He promotes sustainable building practices as a Certified Green Building Professional, Certified GreenPoints Rater and active member of Build It Green. Maurice has two award-winning "green" remodeling projects to his credit.
Maurice has contributed a monthly column on design/build expertise to the Greater Bay Area Edition of Builder/Architect magazine since January of 2005. He has also been published in ArchNews and received mention in many other local publications.
