The Comfort Zone
Hal has more than 30 years of high-tech experience and was a founder of three high-tech startups. He started his career at Bell Laboratories in 1973 and founded his first high tech company in 1983.
The experience of living in a series of uncomfortable homes and his wife's suggestions to "do something about it" was the motivation and inspiration for founding Home Comfort Zones (www.homecomfortzones.com) . The mission was to develop a practical way to provide room-by-room temperature control compatible with conventional forced air heating and cooling systems that could be easily retrofit into existing homes and designed into new homes. The result was the Home Comfort Zones residential energy management system that typically provides 10 - 20 control zones per HVAC system while enabling energy savings up to 40%. It is now available in a rapidly growing number of regions including Northern California.
Hal has a B.S. in Physics from Case Western Reserve and a Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from the University of Oregon.
