Eve Kushner

Berkeley-based freelance writer Eve Kushner has published two nonfiction books and more than 70 articles. Her pieces on architects, the construction process, and green building have appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle and the East Bay Monthly. Eve's interests are diverse; she has covered Japan and its writing system, movies, books, reproductive issues, writing techniques, food, and her personal experiences. Furthermore, Eve has written about 30 people who have dedicated their lives to fascinating passions and visions. Many of these articles have appeared as cover stories in the Chronicle, including her profile of visionary architect Dan Liebermann.

Ever since that piece came out in 2003, architecture writing has become a niche for Eve. She soon received an invitation to attend EcoWave, the annual eco-design conference sponsored by the San Francisco Institute of Architecture (SFIA). That enabled her to learn about numerous innovative architects. She subsequently interviewed architect Eugene Tsui as part of a soon-to-be-released documentary by Laurent LeGall. And she flew to all corners of the country to interview other free-thinking architects for her as-yet-unpublished book Wild Buildings, Wild Lives: How Visionary Architects Think, Create, and Live. At both EcoWave and SFIA, Eve has given well-received speeches about Wild Buildings, Wild Lives.
