California Closets
If you are looking for a vendor that offers its business partners individualized attention and care, you won't find better than California Closets. Founded in 1978, they were the originators of the custom closet industry. With more than 120 franchises worldwide, they remain in the lead as the largest full-service provider of custom closet and storage solutions. Yet despite the organization's global reach, local franchises make it a priority to create a personalized experience with their clients. The Concord team focuses its operations in Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa and Solano counties, while partnering with other regional franchises to service the entire Bay Area.

California Closets has several design lines to suit almost every home storage need. Most commonly they are called out to design bedroom reach-in and walk-in closets, utility rooms, mudrooms, pantries, garage cabinets, entertainment centers and offices. These as well as other areas of the home can be designed using a variety of approaches and design lines that California Closets offers. Their Classic line utilizes a European rail-hung system to produce highly adjustable storage systems. This system is flexible and functional, custom designed to fit easily into any home. California Closets also offers a premium Designer line, which is designed to look more furniture-like and built in. The office design solutions are specifically geared towards helping their customers gain comfort and functionality in the office, without sacrificing style. Every design line that California Closets offers is available in a variety of finishes and colors. Each storage solution comes completely outfitted with premium accessories custom-designed to the needs of the customer to maximize every bit of space. The large variety of colors, door styles, moldings and design choices means that the look of the systems California Closets creates can be made to suit any home's design needs. Crafted from the finest quality materials and hardware, it is the only closet company to have been awarded the time-honored mark of value, the Good Housekeeping seal of approval.

The Suite line is traditionally a floor- to-ceiling system fully backed with 1-inch-thick shelving 15 inches in depth. The frosted glass with aluminum framed wardrobe doors and boxed canopy with accent lighting create a sophisticated look in this closet. The Concord franchise has been fortunate to work with builders on projects of all sizes, from spec homes to large-scale developments. When working with a new builder, they review the needs of the project, and a custom presentation package is created with computerized color designs along with a detailed description and pricing. These materials typically end up as part of the builder's catalog of home options for prospective buyers. Throughout the home building process, the California Closets design team works with the builder to ensure that the storage systems will be installed with complete satisfaction. One of their central commitments is to provide a customer experience second to none. They seek that all their customers, including their builder partners, feel this difference in the level of service that they provide.

While some other businesses in the custom closet industry focus on product lines, personnel at the Concord location go beyond that view by also concentrating on customer service and the buyer's experience, a sentiment echoed throughout the entire corporation.
Whether it's an in-home consultation or a builder-subcontractor relationship, designers are trained to discover what suits the needs of the owner as well as the needs of the space. "We differentiate ourselves from the competition by providing first-class service to go along with versatile high-quality products," says Janay Minton, Builder Operations coordinator.

(Photo by Bruce Schneider)The emphasis on service is not just limited to how the company interacts with clients. California Closets encourages its franchises to invest in programs that help their surrounding communities. Being a contributor to such causes as the local Special Olympics athletes in Contra Costa and Alameda counties has fostered that level of care and commitment that helps the staff build a unique and warm experience for themselves, their clients and their partners.
