Centex's Home Building operation, Centex Homes, consistently ranks among the largest multi-market, single- family home producers in the United States. Centex Homes is the only company to rank among the Top 10 U.S. home builders for more than 30 consecutive years, according to Professional Builder magazine. They build and sell homes in approximately 575 neighborhoods serving more than 90 markets in 26 states.

As well, Centex Construction consistently ranks as one of the nation's five largest general building contractors. The group provides construction management and design-build services nationwide. Over time, the group has completed more than $26 billion of projects in both the private and public sectors, among which are some of the nation's most well-known structures, including: hospitals, hotels, office buildings, correctional facilities, educational facilities (K-12 and universities), shopping centers, airports, parking garages, sports stadiums, military facilities, high-tech facilities, industrial/manufacturing facilities, and convention and performing arts centers.

Bringing it home to the Bay Area, was the groundbreaking ceremony for the historic Del Monte Packing Plant # 51 on Wednesday, May 25, at 734 The Alameda in San Jose.

Located just off The Alameda near the HP Pavilion, trendy restaurants, shopping and transportation, the 265 condos and condo/lofts of 51 - each with clean lines and uncluttered space - will reside within the restored facade of this amazing historic building. Each home is elegant, yet eclectic, offering up to 1,370 square feet of dynamic living space. 51 is a spectacular building, financed with a $100 million investment from Centex Homes and a bold architectural vision from the world-class Steinberg Architects.
